Diabetes In Today's World
Diabetes is a major public health problem of epidemic proportions. More than 12 percent of U.S. adults have diabetes. Uncontrolled, diabetes can lead to complications from head to toe, including stroke, loss of vision, heart disease, kidney failure, and various problems due to nerve damage and circulatory problems, such as erectile dysfunction or lower-extremity amputation.
An even greater number of people have prediabetes, which mean they are at high risk for developing diabetes. With prediabetes, blood glucose levels are higher than normal, but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. Recent research has shown that some long-term damage to the body, especially the heart and circulatory system, may already be occurring during prediabetes. Fifteen to thirty percent of people with prediabetes will develop diabetes within five years. Fortunately, type 2 diabetes can be prevented, and complications can often be avoided or treated with a significant change in lifestyle.

What We'll Be Doing
During this experience we'll talk about making a QUALITATIVE as opposed to a QUANTITATIVE shift in the way we eat. This may be the first time you'll hear that choosing the right food is the guiding principle for staying healthy, not the restriction of the amounts of foods.
At the end of this series you will have the opportunity to participate in a cooking class where together (via Zoom) we'll prepare some tasty healthy dishes.
Once you have registered, keep an eye out for emails from Jennifer Gieseke at HealthyChefWellness@gmail.com or healthychefwell@iinhealthcoaching.com for more information.
The class is just $15 per session or $50 if you pay for the series in advance (which includes the cooking class)
